What is this book about?

The Good Gut Guide gives practical advice on digestive disorders. It was not written specifically for IBS sufferers, but is instead designed to cover a range of gut problems, including ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, celiac disease and food intolerance, as well as IBS. The book also looks at more general symptoms that can affect everyone, such as constipation, diarrhea, piles and threadworm (pinworm), as well as medical conditions which can result in gut problems. These include:

The Good Gut Guide covers both orthodox medicine and complementary therapies for all the ailments under discussion. Self-help tips are given for many symptoms, as well as tips for maintaining a good relationship with your doctor and receiving the best treatment.

One chapter of the book is devoted to the person behind the illness, and how your illness may affect your routine, your ability to work and have fun, and even your relationships. Lastly, there is a resource section at the end of the book that refers to various help associations, support groups, medical sites and agencies and further reading. The Good Gut Guide aims to be a comprehensive source of information of all kinds, and this section will be regularly updated.
