What are charcoal pills?
Charcoal is produced from burning materials liks oil and wood. In pill form charcoal is absorbent and can help to bind gases together in the gut.
What symptoms do they treat?
Charcoal pills are traditionally used to reduce excess gas/wind in the gut. They are also sometimes used to calm indigestion or reduce diarrhea, because the charcoal neutralizes and absorbs methane or sulfide intestinal gases.
How are they taken?
Charcoal pills are swallowed with water.
