I have IBS-C. I tried Activia here in the US about a year and a half ago. I ate it regularly (once a day) for a year, but I did not notice any improvements in my symptoms. I was already eating yogurt (a different brand). It may have helped some, but the Activia didn't help any more than the yogurt I had been using before.
I have had much better results with a product called Align, which is a capsule with a particular strain of probiotic that is supposed to help IBS sufferers. While I do like Activia yogurt, it is sweetened with Splenda. I read that Splenda kills 50% of the good bacteria in your gut. I don't know how true that is, but I have decided to cut down on Splenda-sweetened foods, and I think I have noticed an improvement.
I have also had good luck with a product called Colon Fit for my constipation. It keeps me very regular (otherwise I could go for days). That being said, my mother, who does not have IBS but has an ostomy and many accompanying digestive problems as a result, swears by Activia and eats it every day.

I am not saying do not try it, but after reading about the benefits of Activia I decided to give it a go. After two days I was in agony and off work, but just because it did not work for me does not mean it won't work for you.

I took the Activia challenge and signed up etc. I tried it fairthfully for the allotted timeframe and more and I have not noticed any difference whatsoever. I enjoy the taste of the yogurt but I was disappointed with the results. I told the folks at Activia the same thing. I have not heard anything back about a refund that they always say they will give if it doesn't help you. I still find one Imodium with lunch as a precaution and also taking half a tablet of a new prescription called Hyomax (an anti-spasmodic) seems to be the most helpful thing.

I have been a long time sufferer of IBS-C. I too was a fan of Zelnorm. Since then I have tried several different things to control my IBS. Nothing worked for me long-term until this. I have had great luck with my daily (two) probiotics and I have been drinking Activia drinks daily (I like the strawberry flavor). The product says to drink for two weeks or your money back. For me after a week I was finding great relief from being stopped up.
I normally try to drink lots of water and eat fresh veg and fruit which also helps. But since drinking the Activia I haven't had any setbacks like before. It has really made a difference in my regularity. When I couldn't (was away) drink it for a few days, it set me back a bit. But since drinking it for three days again...I am a happy person again!
